ANNOUNCEMENT

On January 8, Our Japanese Language school held the program "Mochitsuki" at the Sangha Hall of the SACBC.

Mochi pounding (mochitsuki) is a long Japanese year-end tradition.
Japanese celebrate a New Year by decorating mochi in disk-like flat circle. We call it 'kagami-mochi' meanning a mirror-rice-cake. Originally the mirror represented the Shinto Goddess Amaterasu omikami, the Sun Goddess.
